Follow The Yellow Brick Road To Artmarket!
Because, because, because, because, becauseeeeee, because of the wonderful things he does! Im afraid I’m not referring to the great and powerful Oz – but to Craig Davison the mastermind behind this fantastic new collection of art based on the classic Wizard Of Oz!The vibrant ‘Because, because, because’ encapsulates the imagination of youth. Davison’s illustrates four friends running down their make believe yellow brick road. The Lion is in character with his roaring face and clawed hands with the joyful Dorothy dragging them all along after an over excited dog! The little boy playing tin man seems to be lagging behind slightly – not so easy to run freely with a pan over his eyes – but someone has to be him right!? The excitement leading up to this release was immense! Not least by Artmarket’s Gallery Manager, Charlotte Eva, commenting, ‘As a huge fan of The Wizard Of Oz I felt immediately drawn to this piece of art. Looking at the piece takes me back to when I was a child playing make believe with my friends. Imagination is such a powerful tool. As a child this power flows freely, not yet restrained by age and responsibility. Davison has a rare skill of encapsulating these emotions on the canvas allowing a brief moment of escapism back to care-free times gone by. The response to this collection from my clients has been overwhelming, with a sell out from the publishers they are selling extremely well and are proving to be highly collectable already’.This piece is available on on canvas on board, boxed canvas and giclee on paper. *We only have one canvas on board left – due to popular demand - and its sold out from the publishers – so get in quick!* Davison comments "This painting was created using the same techniques that I always use, building up the painting in layers and finishing with a brown glaze. I wanted to get away from the brown a little this time and give the picture more of a ‘Technicolor’ look and so I put more colour into the background and shadow of “Because…” The yellow brick road and the Emerald City seemed like good places to take colour inspiration from".As well as this vibrant piece Davison has also released 5 small pencil sketch prints of the characters, ingeniously named by quotes relating to the character. They look fabulous as a pentaptych, when all hung together. These are also perfect if you fancy a taste of Craig Davison at a more affordable price. ‘I Havent Got a Brain, Only Straw’, ‘Im a Dandy Lion, A Fate I Dont Deserve!’, ‘Take Special Care of those Ruby Slippers’, ‘I Want Them Most of All. Now Fly! Fly!’, ‘Toto, Ive a Feeling Were Not in Kansas Anymore... and ‘Why its a Man... A Man Made out of Tin!’.
