The British singer, songwriter and actor best known for his dramatic transformations, shifting personae and influential genre hopping is a muse for many. On this iconic occasion, photographer Mick Rock, also known as The Man Who Shot the Seventies, uses four iconic images to create a once in a lifetime, limited edition lenticular approved by the Bowie family.
David Bowie Changes
The 1970's were a prominent time in Bowie's music career. The decade brought the release of his groundbreaking album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, which in turn led to Bowie's alter-ego: Ziggy Stardust. The iconic era saw a glitter-clad, mascara-eyed, sexually ambiguous persona that broke boundaries, sparking the phenomenon of '70s self-expression.
Photographer Mick Rock
The man behind the lens of iconic images of David Bowie's changes was London born photographer Mick Rock. Known as The Man Who Shot The Seventies, Mick Rock was welcomed into the Ziggy Stardust phenomenon and immersed himself into Bowie's inner circle, becoming his official photographer between 1972 and 73.
Mick Rock captured official portraits, backstage moments and everything in between, which have since come to define the Ziggy Stardust era and create the brand new lenticular, David Bowie 'Changes' Lenticular.
David Bowie Lenticular
The brand new artwork comprises four iconic images of the star in a singular, ready to hand piece of artwork fit for any David Bowie lover. The images shift seamlessly between each other as you walk by the lenticular, taking you on a glam-rock journey to the iconic Ziggy Stardust era.
The lenticular was approved by Bowie in 2015 as it featured on the cover of the original Collector's Edition of Mick Rock. The Rise of David Bowie, 1972 - 1973, which is now a sold out book. With the approval of David Bowie's family, the artwork has been produced as a ready to hang lenticular in an edition size of only 500.
