Red Balloon

This exhibition cemented Alexander Millar as one of the most significant contemporary artists in the country. The exhibition saw Sue Steward, art critic for the London Evening Standard, compare Alexander Millar to L.S. Lowry. This original oil on canvas was painted specifically for the ''Working Man'' exhibition and was commissioned by the Bubble Foundation. Alexander Millar is proud to be a patron of this entirely self funded charity, which raises money to care for babies and children suffering from severe combined immune deficiency syndrome; essentially meaning the child does not have an immune system and cannot fight off the smallest of infections. The painting features Alexander Millar''s trademark ''gadgie'' character with a child clutching a red balloon; the symbol of the Bubble Foundation. The piece comes hand mounted in a bespoke slip and framed. The piece has a letter of provenance and a certificate confirming its inclusion in a museum exhibition.
